Voting Question: How can i sort my life out?

Hi. I'm 21 and have messed up my life pretty badly. I moved to London to study physics, completed my first year and now am on a break (one year off so far) this is because my ocd got so bad I thought everything was contaminated so couldn't do anything. I became a bike courier and moved into a squat. I threw away every my study material due to fear it was contaminated, so I don't know how to receive back to studying, as I can't remember anything and have no notes, books etc. I don't know what to do. I feel stuck. I have major depression and have just got out of a really bad relationship that screwed me up emotionally. Basically, as I couldn't handle uni and my mental health I have just been dossing around, partying and taking drugs. This was fun at first but now just meaningless. I am academically intelligent but have been really stupid and taken for granted every the priviledge I had. I feel I'm wasting my potential but don't know how to receive my life back on track. I'm considering moving back in with my parents but then would be isolated from friends. Even writing this I know its pathetic but i am just at a loss as what to do. My ocd is ok now but I have lost my personality and barely function properly, I feel I cant understand the world anymore. My goals would be to finish uni and become a scientist but I just feel so so lost. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Resolved Question: Can a bike courier be charged for the illegal contents of one of his or her packages?

Can a self employed courier be legally charged if anything illegal is in the packages he is carrying? On the one hand, the contents of the clients packages are none of the courier's business, but on the other there's no way to know whether or not the courier is the dealer him or herself. Anyone familiar with Colorado law on this matter? The question is whether or not a courier can legally be charged for the contents of his client's packages. Serious answerers only please.

Resolved Question: Does this craigslist reply seem like a scam to you?

So I recently put my high end bicycle on craigslist for $650 (150 below retail) And I have gotten a response, however it seems fishy, what are your opinions? Do you think this is a scam? Here is an email I recieved. Thank you for getting back to me. Though I am planning to use the services of a mover to pick up of the bicycle on my behalf every because am on a job transfer and short of time but I will send a Check through my Bank to cover the cost of the item. The check will be delivered to you by a reliable courier company within 3 working days. I will appreciate it if you provide me with your full mailing address, final price for item, the Name that should be on check and finally a cell phone #. Kindly delete the posting because am serious in buying it. I replied with this A few things, If at every possible, Cash or Money order is strongly suggested, just to insure payment. And one mistake with the bike is the valves on the tires. they are a wierd tipped valve that require a special pump, but they can be replaced cheap. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't like the idea of check, let alone a mailed check. but he has to pick up the bike right? so if the check clears it's every good and I hand it over....right? This money will help kickstart my ebay store(...And by that new 2010 PMR I've had my eye on haha) but before I ramble(any more than I already have..) what do you think? does he sound legit?

Resolved Question: Wrist pain and loss of grip strength: potential problems?

My boyfriend is suffering from wrist pain. It started a few months ago, and has been coming and going. Occasionally, he loses his grip strength. The more intense pain has never lasted more than a few days... until now. Today we're on day three (with the exact same pain intensity, not lessening once). He works in a kitchen-- he often uses his wrists. He's been working at his current job for about four years. He's worked in similar (meaning kitchen) jobs before this one, and was a bike courier before then (courier time frame roughly seven to ten years ago). The only thing we've done differently during this current spell of wrist pain is introduce a tensor: he tells me it makes his wrist feel better when it's on, but once it's off, his fingers feel silly and the pain has now continued for two more days. I've considered that maybe the tensor is too tiny, but have not gotten him a newer/bigger one yet. I suggested NOT wearing the tensor for tomorrow to look if his wrist pain lessens like it has the times before when he did not use a tensor. The fingers feeling silly part only occurs after he's used the tensor, which is why I think it may be too tiny. I know that wrist pain and lack of grip strength can be symptoms of carpal tunnel, perhaps even arthritis. However, I am just a concerned girlfriend looking at the internet, not a doctor: I don't want to be jumping to any major conclusions. My boyfriend is scared crapless of doctors, he experiences extreme anxiety at the mere mention of going to receive his wrist looked at. Should I respect his wishes and ignore the wrist pain alongside him, or is there a chance that he might really need to seek medical attention? Any and every help would be fantastic, thank you. He also plays guitar! I guess that's could be a factor as well. He hasn't mentioned any burning, or tingling, or numbness. Just the on and off pain, and the lack of grip strength. *that

Resolved Question: Does this sound like a scam to you?

My son is selling his motorbike and we listed it online in Australia. Received an email with a few qs from a guy. Answered the qs and he came back with an offer and said he wanted to pay via Paypal. Gave him the email address for my paypal account and the guy came back again saying that he is in the UK and he will have a courier agent collect the bike. However the agent needs to be paid via Western Union in the UK. This guy states that he is at sea and can't access Western Union so has offered to put the extra money into my paypal account if I can organise the Western Union transfer. I can't for the life of me work out why a guy in the UK wants to buy a Honda CBR250RR from Australia - not as if its a difficult bike to arrive by. But I also can't work out how we could be ripped off if every the guy has is an email address to be used for the Paypal payment. If he pays the money into Paypal, and we pay Western Union for the courier agent, is there any way we can receive ripped off? Is this a scam?

Resolved Question: Do you think this is a scam?

On a swap website, someone wants to swap me a mountain bike which new in 2011 is £3000+ and the listing says it is only 3 months old. They want to swap for my practically new iphone and xbox 360, which is obviously not upto the same value. I said we should arrange the courier on the same day to avoid distrust of sending first. Then now weve agreed ive googled the bike to look what its like and have found the exact same bike listed on a mountain bike forum with the exact same listing pictures that were used for the swap listing, but the suspicious thing is that it was advertised on the forum in september and following the posts to the bottom it says sold??? This advert also says its 3 months old??? Im not sure after finding that out, but i must admit im guilty of listing a motorbike i had for sale using the same pictures of the listing i bought it from because i only owned it a few months. So it could be the same thing, which im sure im not the only one guilty of doing, but still the values of the items dont match. Although they have swapped two things before and had no bad feedback and speaking to them they seem trustworthy. Some i dont know what to think......HELP!!!

Resolved Question: How can I (Teenager) make money? (10 Points)?

Hi, I'm a Teenager currently trying to make a little money to support my lifestyle. Resolved Question: paypal scams? what to look for?

I recently put my bike up for sale on the trading post and within a few hours I have a response, due to my excitement I eagerly replied and it went on from there. here is the conversation: (scammer) Hello,Is the bike still avail for sales ...kindly receive back to me with the final price to this email bowline007@live.com so we can sort things out Yes, the DR-Z 125 tiny wheel is still available for $2500. If interested please call.... or answer by email (scammer) Thanks for the swift response...I am willing to offer you $2,500 for it,but due to the nature of my job location...i will not be able to arrive for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it. As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal). I have a private courier agent that will arrive for the pick up after the payment have been made ...so no shipping included. Oh,I need to inform you about this, just received an email from my pick agent...am most sure i did not include that in my previous email,he said he won't arrive for the pick up unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time and my pick up agent Head Quarters is in the United Kingdom and every commission payment made for pick up from anywhere in the world is sent to their Head Quarters in the Uk and the only form of payment they accept is western union money transfer. I have tried to pay online but i will need a credit card which i didn't bring aboard the boat, and there is no post office(there is usually a western union section in most post offices) or any western union agent on sea! so i have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i will include the $950 they charged to pick it up and take it my home(1st class treatment), to the payment i will send through PayPal, after i have made the payment. I will need you to help me send the $950 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, the western union money transfer can be made at a post office close to you, there is always a western union agent in most post offices or online at www.westernunion.com .I will be making the payment shortly and will email you as soon as it has been done. I just want to inform you that i have just completed the payment and i wish you must have been notified in your email about the payment i made through PayPal, you can check your e-mail for confirmation of payment, I have just make the payment of $3,550.,i have decided to add the amount of $1,050 which i paid through paypal, you can now send $950 to my pick up agent via western union so he can be able to arrive for the pick up and also PayPal said they won't release the funds until they receive the western union information from you due to the fact that i emailed them about the excess payment i made.I will need you to send the $950 to my pick up agent Headquarters where they normally confirm any commission payment to via western union money transfer(this can be done from the post office, as they usually have a western union agent there) , i added extra $100 to cover the western union charges which shouldn't be more that $20-35 but just to be sure i added $100, Here is my pick up agent Headquarter info needed to receive the money sent through western union money transfer Name:Alfred Williams 12 Sheen Lane Mortlake London SW14 8LN beware of these con scam artists as they are crafty and will try anything to receive free money.

Resolved Question: I am curious as to how much Push bike couriers in london are paid?

I had a interview on tuesday at Cyclone Couriers to become a push bike courier in London city. I am desperate to work but don't want to work somewhere shitty despite whether it pays well for instance, "sainsburys" I worked night shifts there and it was shit, quit in an instant. places like hmv and other "bait places to work" never seem to be hiring. In the interview the guy mentioned money and said that at best, the most experienced couriers make around 200 pound-ish. I'm starting fresh but i can match these guys in terms of riding capability. Resolved Question: Why are unions HIRING demonstrators for their "protests" at MINIMUM WAGE?

Jennifer Levitz of the Wall road Journal reports: "The Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters is seeking paid demonstrators to march and chant in its current picket line outside the McPherson Building, an office complex here where the council says work is being done with nonunion labor. "For a lot of our members, it's really difficult to have them arrive out, either because of parking or something else," explains Vincente Garcia, a union representative who is supervising the picketing. So instead, the union hires unemployed people at the minimum wage—$8.25 an hour—to walk picket lines. Billy Raye, a 51-year-old unemployed bike courier, says he's grateful for the work, even though he's not sure why he's doing it. "I could care less," he says. "I am being paid to march around and sound off." Hmm... MINIMUM WAGE?? Don't the unions say that it is NOT a livable wage? WHY aren't they paying their "demonstrators" a REAL "living wage"? Is this more leftist HYPOCRISY or DOUBLE STANDARDS?

Resolved Question: I sold a motorcycle frame with vc logbook on ebay over 6months ago- but DVLA now want me to tax/sorn it?

I have had a tax reminder for this frame, even though i sold it over 6months ago on ebay. I have had the same problem with the last motorcycle i sold, which the new owner failed to notify DVLA. I got intouch with DVLA and told them every the details i knew... ebay number but they said the bike is in my name so my responcibility. So my question is, IF the current owner fails to notify dvla that they are the owner, can i legally SORN it, write to DVLA and then if i receive another reminder, in a year's time to scrap it?. When i sold the bike frame the buyer arranged a courier to arrive and collect it, so he wasnt gift to sign the new keepers section,, so i filled in my section and signed it, in wish the new owner would fill it in and send it off. Yes i have emailed the buyer, and if he doesnt repsond by the end of the month then i will SORN it Im in UK, and DVLA's attitude is as long as the vehicle is in my name, i am responcible. As far as they are concerned i failed to inform them of change of owner... but how can i when it requires the new owner to sign the main part- i can not forge a signiture and a change of ownership isnt valid without both parties signiture...

Resolved Question: What do you think of this?

just some bullshit I was toying with while I was supposed to be doing american history Prologue When you look a diamond on display at a museum, or a painting hanging at your boss's home, you probably thought of how you'd like to have one, or what you'd do if you did. You never think what they have to do to protect it in their home, let alone on the move. Well, the first part is some other jackass's problem, I work for the Pinkerton firm, yes, we're still around. Me and my team transport those high priced status symbols that wealthy people go crazy over. Those Shelby cars they pay seven million for? they go on my truck with a handling fee that's bigger than most peoples salaries. Those million dollar paintings? I carry them to their new homes. In a city where every Tom, Dick, and homeless guy is mugging you, do you think you can trust a courier with your priceless items? heck, even armored trucks receive jacked if the payoff's high enough. We're quick, safe, and inconspicuous. If you need something moved, and you want it moved wherever, whenever, with every insurance that it will be safe, then we are the people for the job. Chapter 1 Highways are my favorite place to travel. Interstates have too many cops and state roads have to few. Highways have the right amount of security, with the right amount of cars, and take you through the right amount of places. The hum of my Silverado HD blended with my escorts perfect, creating a steady rhythm that pierced the night only a few inches into the dense tree cover. My cargo was a horse, a multiple world championship show horse. The buyer was a fan and had provided her possess trailer for the transport. I didn't like it, but my opinion wasn't what they paid me for. "I got two blues on a checkpoint two miles up. They're clean, but they look frosty." the Cajun drawled from my CB. Brian Grahm, a fathers nightmare if there ever was one. He'd served in the New Orleans SWAT for three years, as well as two years as a detective. He was a good cop, but his temper and vices got him fired before his thirtieth birthday. "alright, keep an eye as we pass." I called back. The cab was filled with quick food wrappers and take out cups. three days of non-cease driving is not something most people can manage. I have to admit, Brian's time spent on the bike was probably harder. I passed the cops and the big Cajun appeared out of the darkness on the corporate bike. The flat black Ducati Hypermotard 796 seemed to blend into the night. My two tail cars were inhabited by two of the nameless employees our bosses stuck on our asses to make us more fucking conspicuous. Three more days of this bullshit till we reached Seattle, and I had maybe two more days before I blew my fucking head off.

Resolved Question: How do you deal with V5 log book when vehicle buyer is not present?

Just sold my motorbike on ebay and the seller has bought the bike unseen and is sending a courier to collect the bike. How do I complete the V5 as the buyer is also required to complete and sign his section of the document, before I can forward it to DVLA to issue a new one in his name? Should I just sign my part and receive the courier to hand the entire V5 document to the buyer, and then trust that he'll complete the relax of it and send it off? (Not sure whether to trust someone I've never met to do this!) Or can I send the V5 to DVLA with my details completed and the buyers signature missing? Obviously, I don't wish to be held liable for any motoring offences commited whilst vehicle is still registered in my name! How do others/ebayers deal with this situation when the buyer is not gift? Thanks To: Evelyn the Modified Dog - Thanks that sounds like the best solution. Just to clarify have you ever had any comeback from the DVLA or are they quite glad to issue a new V5 doing it this way? Also do you mean sign my possess name in both sections or sign new owners name in his section and then add P P? - Thanks again!

Resolved Question: Order from US - 330 dollar - what can I expect on "importing procedure"?

I ordered a new bike stroller, what they sell only in US... it cost 330 dollar incl. shippment. It is quite big - 29kg. What happens next? Will I have to pay extra tax to receive my package ? So it is in germany - where we lived before - I do not really know how it works here. Will they hold my package back? Or will it arrive normal home to me (I payed air courier 24H) What do you mean/know? Thanks in forward!
